How to Write a Cold Call Script with AI

A step-by-step method for writing a cold call script that an AI calling agent can actually use, with an example structure.

A good cold call script is not a speech. It is a short plan for a conversation: how to open, what to ask, how to answer common questions and what to ask for at the end. AI can draft one in seconds, but the result is only as good as the facts you give it.

Step 1: Gather the facts

  • Who you are and what you sell, in one sentence.
  • Who the ideal customer is.
  • The main problem you solve.
  • Proof you can honestly mention, such as real customers or results.
  • Prices or offers you are happy to share.
  • The goal of the call: a meeting, a callback or a sign-up.

Step 2: Write a short opener

Say your name, your company and the reason for the call within the first few seconds, then ask permission to continue. For example: “Hi, this is Alex from Acme. I’m calling because you asked about our accounting service. Is now a good time for two minutes?”

Step 3: Ask, don’t pitch

Plan two or three short questions that help you understand whether the person is a good fit. Let the answers guide the conversation.

Step 4: Prepare answers to objections

  • “I’m not interested.”
  • “Send me an email.”
  • “How much does it cost?”
  • “We already use someone else.”
  • “Is this a robot?” (always answer honestly).

Step 5: End with one clear ask

Pick one next step, such as booking a 15-minute demo, and ask for it directly. If the answer is no, thank them and end politely.

Step 6: Let AI draft it, then edit

Give the AI all the facts above and ask it to write the opener, questions, objection answers and closing. Then read it out loud. Remove anything that sounds pushy, and anything that isn’t true. A script should never make up facts, prices or promises.

Step 7: Test and improve

Make a few test calls to yourself, then review real call transcripts. Look at where people hang up or get confused, and change those lines first.
